| If you're looking for the best defense, then it's the other option I offered before the fighting wedge--everyone gets back-to-back and forms a circle. Now, with the battlegrid, it's a square (remember Fire Cube?). See below.

PPPPPP PP12PP PP34PP PP5PPP PPPPPP
OR
#2 PPPPP PP1PP P253P PP4PP PPPPP
(P=placeholder)
With the second diagram, position five is generally meant for the party's controller--everyone guards the wizard as the wizard is free to wreak havoc on multiple minions. However, our party is short a controller. We could ask Conrad to sit in the middle but he's also the holder of the Holy Hand Grenade of Radiant Power, and we really need to make sure he's got some clear shots on Toothy McTootherson.
So, that's the best defense.

Ok, so go with the first version of the back-to-back circle. PPPPPP PP 12PP PP 34PP PP 5PPP PPPPPP

| BTW, I would recommend that Peter and I take the 1 and 5 position in the diagram above. With a defender at each end of the circle (are circles supposed to have ends? In 4E they do!) our sword bursts should be effective at eliminating spawn in decent amounts. The defenders have just become the controllers! | |
