D&D Fortune Cards!

http://www.gamesalute.com/?p=5544

"This February Wizards of the Coast is releasing a new type of product for their Dungeons & Dragons RPG. Called Fortune Cards: Aspects of Fate, these new cards will be sold in boosters of 8 and give characters special little powers to accompany their already massive arsenal of abilities."

Translation... they fucked up so badly on 4th edition, they're trying to suck in Magic: the Gathering players to buy D&D products. Fail.

I don't see why it has to be a booster-pack system. Just release it as an entire set for anybody who wants to add it to their game (like the Paizo Game Mastery cards). WoC is just trying to rape our wallets. As if the cost of books wasn't enough to do that already...

Fortunately (for anybody who plays 4e), it will only be a matter of time before some enterprising soul scans the whole set and puts it on torrent as a pdf.

it was called D&D Esstenials....

as for the boosters, they are sold in packs and a player can hold up to 3 cards at any one session.

lets say: Card 1: ignore what you just rolled, you rolled a 20 instead.
Card 2: Get another standard action this turn
card 3: Pass any save you just failed.

can only play one a turn, but 3 a session. DM has ultimate control if they wish to ignore the cards.

Holy crap. WotC really lost their way. Obviously--that's why Pathfinder is so damn popular!
