| I think I mentioned to you guys that with my other group I was messing around with some retro D&D (Labyrinth Lord system) to give my 4E newbies a taste of how it used to be in the old days. I was reading through the spells section and had to laugh when I got to Teleport. Thankfully we didn't have to use these rules in our last few sessions...or else the 9th level of the Underdark would be speckled with bits of adventurers embedded in the walls! On Target: The caster or creature appears in the desired location
High: The caster or creature appears 1d10x10 feet above the destination. Should this location already be occupied by solid matter, the caster or creature is instantly killed.
Low: The caster or creature appears in the ground and is killed instantly
Familiarity............On Target..... .....High...........Low Very familiar...... .....01–95............96–99...........00 Studied carefully......01–80............81–90........91-00 Seen casually..........01–50............51–75........76-00 Viewed once............01–30............31–65........66-00

| Rules like the above were ridiculous. "Elf" use to be a character class back in 1st edition! | |

| Haha...yeah, the system I'm using has Elf, Halfling and Dwarf as classes.
For a goofy one-off session it's fun, but I could never play a full campaign with those old rules.

| you can still take levels of your race in 3.5. i think unearthed arcana is the book it's in, and it only goes up to 5 levels. you can start off level one as Half Orc level one. get +2 str, and rage. and then go into barbarian or fighter and enjoy. | |

| I think I remember reading online somewhere that a lot of the stuff in Unearthed Arcana is broken. Also, who would want to take a level in a class when you're eligible to start prestige classing? | |

| idk it's just the options that are availble.
like did you know that........ if you play as a Lolth-Touched Half Minotaur Incarnate Construct Warforged, (just think a warforged gets it on with a minotaur for some reasonand the queen goddess of the drow likes you)
templates:
Warforged: +2 CON, -2 WIS, -2 CHA Incarnate Construct: -2 level adjustment Half Minotaur: +4 STR, +2 CON, -2 INT, +2 Natural Armor, +1 level adjustment Medium to large size: +8 STR, -2 DEX, +4 CON, +2 Natural armor Lolth-Touched: +6 STR, +6 CON, +1 level adjustment
so at the end it is, +18 STR, -2 DEX, +8 CON, -2 WIS, -2 INT, -2 CHA, +4 Natural armor, large sized (space 10, reach 10ft, -1 penalty to ac and atk rolls) all for.........................
............ . . . . . ....+0 level adjustment
